LANDFORMS announces the first solo exhibition of Mariette Van Erp, offering a deep dive into the overall oeuvre of an artist who has been active for more than 60 years.
With this introduction, we seek to shed light on the many landscapes and forms Mariette has drawn from nature.
Her work moves fluidly between painting and drawing, using an unconventional range of tools: brushes and mops to paint, nails to draw. Through these gestures, she builds a tactile and expressive visual language.
Pale blues and soft pinks coexist with rich browns and deep blacks, bringing nature to life in an abstract way. In LANDFORMS, “land” refers to her surroundings, while “forms” speaks to abstraction—together reflecting a lifelong engagement with the natural world, transformed through her unique artistic vision.
